You probably know that I’m fastidious about the little details in my home (right down to the switch plates), so I’m always excited to discover an item that makes the mundane necessities of a house more functional and easier on the eyes. Exhibit A: The Side Socket. This genius little gadget turns two electrical outlets into six, and once you’ve plugged in your lamps and appliances you can swivel the sockets to the side (there are three on each side), so the front of the socket is flat. Voila, no cords poking out of the wall, which means it’s easier to back furniture up against outlets and clear up space on countertops. Once you see how much sense it makes to arrange cords parallel to the wall, instead of awkwardly sticking straight out, you’ll wonder why nobody thought of this sooner!
