Happy New Year, folks! If you’re like me, you have “eat healthier” on your list of New Year’s Resolutions. It doesn’t happen overnight. Getting used to cooking, eating well and making healthier choices is a process but once you get through the other side, you know you’ve made the right choice. With that in mind, I’m going to help you out with a few items that will get you started on the right foot this year. These kitchen gadgets are designed to make eating at home and, ultimately, healthier easy as (sugar free) pie. 😉
A healthy grocery list is what everyone is all about right now and this gadget-to-app tool will keep your grocery list in top shape. Hiku is a refridgerator magnet that allows you to scan barcodes of the food items you run out of and automatically adds them to the grocery list on your phone app. No barcode? No sweat… you can talk to it. If it only had a setting to block words, I can still ask it to add dark chocolate to my grocery list. ;D
Need help preparing food? Drop will be your new best friend in the kitchen. This intuitive scale and weighs the exact items you are putting in a bowl to prepare food and, step-by-step, guides you through the preparation process. If you’re one to have a heavy hand with certain ingredients, this is for you. The scale syncs to the app on your phone or iPad and even takes you through the cooking process when you use the recipes in it.
If the only thing you need help with is the timing of cooking your favorite foods, look no further than Pantelligent. Starting out as a Kickstarter campaign, this frying pan times exactly how long you should cook items and notifies you through the app as it detects the temperature of the pan. It even tells you when to flip. Put away the thermometer, your frying pan is one now!
Happy cooking & preparing! Stay focused on your resolution – I will, too.
