My Paris series continues and this time it’s time for shopping. If I’m taking time away from arts and culture to shop while on vacation, I want it to be part of an experience. I don’t want to spend time somewhere that is the same experience as shopping in Los Angeles, I want to feel the city I’m in. Lucky for me, Paris does a very good job of “being Paris” all the time. Here are some of my favorite stops for different things.
The Classic: Boulevard Haussmann
Visit Boulevard Haussmann the classic Paris shopping experience. Plan on spending hours at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. One of the best things about these department stores is the sheer amount of things they have. You can spend hours in there simply looking at all the different luxurious items. When you’ve had enough shopping & looking around, hit the roof at Galeries Lafayette for one of the best views in Paris. Don’t forget to stop and take in the fantastic window displays!
Boutiques: Le Marais
This neighborhood is known for its unique style, bohemian vibe and fantastic shopping. If what you’re looking for is a one of a kind, local item, this is your stop. Beyond all the fantastic boutiques, you’ll find many lovely cafes and lesser known museums to keep you occupied when you have shopped til to drop.
Food: Market Streets
You didn’t think Paris shopping would be limited to clothes and knick knacks, did you? While there are many around the city, Rue Cler is one of my favorites. Located in the 7th arrondissement, this street is stocked full of the freshest fish, produce, meats and, most importantly, fromage.
